INTRODUCTION
Galatians was written by Paul the Apostle. This letter was written to several churches in Galatia. Galatia was a Roman province. Paul had heard that there were problems going on in these churches due to Jewish teachers who were persuading the Galatian Christians that salvation in Jesus Christ includes keeping the Jewish laws such as circumcision. Therefore, without practicing the Law of Moses they could not be truly saved. These teachers claimed to represent church leadership in Jerusalem and some of the Gentile believers began to follow the Law.
Paul’s objective was to remind the Galatian believers that:
- Salvation is through faith alone, not faith plus law
- Paul wanted to defend his apostleship, which was under attack by the Jewish teachers

KEY LESSONS FROM THE BOOK OF GALATIANS
- Justification is by faith in Jesus Christ, not by the law of Moses. (Galatians 2:16)
- “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20a)
- The law of Moses was given to show the people their sins. It was to prepare the children of Israel for the Messiah. The law was designed to last until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah. (Galatians 3:19)
- By entering the covenant, we are now the children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26)
- Now that we are in Christ Jesus, we are the seed of Abraham. We are Abraham’s heirs and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to us. (Galatians 3:29).
- God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts prompting us to call out, Abba, Father. Now we are God’s own children, His heirs. (Galatians 4:6-7)
- “…Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” (Galatians 5:16), NLT
- We will always harvest what we plant. (Galatians 6:7)
- “Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.” (Galatians 6:8), NLT
PRAYER IN THE BOOK OF GALATIANS TO PRAY FOR YOURSELF AND FOR OTHERS:
Galatians 2:20-21 New Living Translation (NLT)
20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.
PRAYER: I was crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God who loves me and gave Himself for me. I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless.
